Tier lists are the fastest way to answer “who’s strong?” — and the fastest way to start an argument. This one keeps its caveats baked in: below are the community-consensus PvE and PvP rankings for AION 2’s eight launch classes, drawn from a year of Korean-server coverage and last verified on October 3, 2026, two days before the global launch. Full class details live in the class list.
PvE tier list — dungeons, raids and world bosses
PvE in AION 2 means the 200+ dungeons in solo, 5-player and 10-player formats, plus world bosses and open-world events. That shapes the rankings: a class that is consistently wanted and consistently performs beats a class with a high ceiling and thin demand.
| Tier | Class | Role | Why the community puts it here |
|---|---|---|---|
| S | Ranger | Ranged DPS | The most consistent all-around damage across raids, dungeons and world bosses; kiting plus altitude control |
| S | Cleric | Healer | The main healer — no group content clears without one, so demand never drops |
| S | Gladiator | Melee DPS | Sustained cleave plus solo sustain; strong everywhere and forgiving to pilot |
| A | Chanter | Support | Buffs and off-healing every raid wants; sits a half-step behind Cleric because its slot overlaps |
| A | Templar | Tank | The only pure tank — mandatory for group content, but slower solo than the DPS classes |
| A | Assassin | Melee DPS | High damage ceiling; melee uptime in mobile, vertical fights takes real piloting |
| B | Sorcerer | Magic DPS | Enormous burst, but cast times clash with fast-moving targets; community PvE lists rate it below its PvP standing |
| B | Spiritmaster | Summoner | Steady pet-based pressure and control, but the thinnest data of any class — verify in game at launch |
Why S is S
The S-tier trio wins on the two axes PvE actually rewards: consistency and demand. Ranger puts out dependable damage in every format, Cleric is structurally irreplaceable, and Gladiator combines cleave throughput with the self-sustain that keeps it alive when healers are busy. None of them need the fight to behave.
Why A is A — and B is B
The A-tier classes are indispensable rather than dominant: Chanter and Templar fill mandatory slots but compete with their S-tier partners, and Assassin’s damage depends on the pilot staying on target. In B, Sorcerer’s cast bars fight the game’s own mobility, and Spiritmaster simply has the least community data to rank confidently — both are viable, and both are flagged for re-verification at launch.
PvP tier list — the Abyss and open world
PvP in AION 2 centers on the Abyss, where the Elyos–Asmodian faction war overlaps with PvE content. Burst and anchoring rule that space.
| Tier | Class | Why |
|---|---|---|
| S | Assassin | Burst windows from stealth — closes, kills, and is gone before the answer lands |
| S | Sorcerer | Cast-time nukes and area burst decide fights from range |
| A | Templar | Anchors formations and protects healers; the backbone pick |
| A | Ranger | Solid all-round at range — strong open-world presence without sacrificing PvE |
| To verify | Gladiator, Chanter, Cleric, Spiritmaster | Thinner PvP consensus pre-launch; re-checked after the global servers open |
One honesty note: arena-style mode names circulating in pre-launch coverage are unverified — the Abyss itself is confirmed, the exact mode list should be confirmed in game at launch.
How this list was made — and when it changes
The method is deliberately narrow. Sources are Korean-server community rankings and coverage accumulated since the game went live there on November 19, 2025; no datamined stat values are used, and nothing official is claimed. When the global servers open on October 5, every placement here gets re-checked against the Western build and the tables updated.
Will the global list differ? Possibly, for two reasons. First, the global version already contains a year of Korean balance patches, so day-one meta may not match old Korean footage you have seen. Second, chapters move the balance needle — Chapter 1 added a whole class (the Brawler, still Korea/Taiwan-only) on July 1, 2026, and future chapter updates will keep shifting the picture. The lastModified date on this page tracks the most recent verification.
The bottom line
- PvE S-tier: Ranger, Cleric, Gladiator — consistency and permanent demand
- PvE A-tier: Chanter, Templar, Assassin; B-tier: Sorcerer, Spiritmaster
- PvP top picks: Assassin and Sorcerer for burst; Templar to anchor, Ranger for all-round strength
- Status: community consensus, Korean-server based, last verified October 3, 2026 — updated after launch
- Brawler: excluded — Korea/Taiwan-only since Chapter 1, no confirmed global date
