FAQ

Can my PC run AION 2?
Check against the publisher-published specs: at minimum you need a Ryzen 5 2600 or i5-10500 CPU, 8GB of RAM, a GTX 1050 Ti graphics card and 100GB of storage. Meet that and the game should run; the recommended tier is a Ryzen 7 3700X or i7-11700, 16GB RAM and an RTX 2070 with an SSD.
Is 8GB of RAM enough for AION 2?
Yes — 8GB meets the published minimum requirement. The recommended tier asks for 16GB, and for a modern Unreal Engine 5 MMO with the game plus a browser or Discord open, 16GB is the comfortable target.
Does AION 2 need an SSD?
An SSD is listed at the recommended tier rather than the minimum, so a hard drive should technically work — but on a 100GB install with an open world 36 times the size of the original AION, an SSD is the single upgrade most likely to remove stutter.
How big is the AION 2 install?
Around 100GB according to the published specs. That is a large install — clear the space early, because launch-day downloads plus a full disk is the classic way to miss a release.
Will AION 2 run on a gaming laptop?
Probably, if it clears the table — a laptop GPU in the GTX 1050 Ti performance class is broadly comparable to the desktop minimum, though thermals and thin-chassis cooling can cost you frames. Treat laptop performance as launch-confirm and plan for reduced settings.

AION 2 arrives on PC on October 5, 2026, built on Unreal Engine 5, and the publisher-published system requirements are refreshingly sane for a 2026 UE5 MMO. There is no RTX-or-nothing wall here: the minimum spec targets hardware from roughly 2016–2020, which means most gaming PCs from the last several years get through the door.

Here are both tiers, plus a walkthrough to answer the real question — can I run it?

AION 2 system requirements

These are the publisher-published specs for the global PC release:

ComponentMinimumRecommended
CPUAMD Ryzen 5 2600 or Intel Core i5-10500AMD Ryzen 7 3700X or Intel Core i7-11700
RAM8GB16GB
GPUNVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 TiNVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070
Storage100GB100GB, SSD

Note what the recommended tier emphasizes: CPU, RAM and an SSD — not just a bigger graphics card. That profile matches what AION 2 actually is: an MMO with a huge open world (36 times the size of the original AION’s) full of other players, rather than a corridor shooter chasing maximum GPU effects.

Can you run it? The four-part checklist

CPU. A Ryzen 5 2600 (six-core, 2018) or i5-10500 (six-core, 2020) is the floor. Anything from the Ryzen 5 3000/5000 or Intel 10th-gen onward comfortably clears it. MMOs are CPU-heavy in crowds — if you plan to fight in the Abyss at launch, the recommended CPU is the tier that matters.

RAM. 8GB meets minimum; 16GB is recommended. On Windows 10/11, 8GB runs the game but leaves little headroom for Discord, a browser full of guides, and the launcher itself. If you are on 8GB, close everything else on launch night.

GPU. The GTX 1050 Ti minimum is genuinely modest — one of the most common GPUs ever sold. The RTX 2070 recommended tier is where you stop making settings compromises. Anything between (GTX 1660, RTX 2060, RX 5600-class and up) lands you in “run it well, tune the extras” territory.

Storage. The install is 100GB — that is big, and worth acting on early. Check your free space now, before launch day, and remember patching an MMO on a nearly-full drive is its own mini-boss. SSD is on the recommended tier for a reason: an open-world MMO streams terrain constantly, and an SSD is the cheapest stutter-killer you can buy.

What Unreal Engine 5 means for performance

UE5 is the engine behind AION 2’s scale and its aerial combat — the long sightlines and vertical vistas are exactly what the engine’s feature set is built to render. The honest expectation: launch week of any UE5 MMO involves performance patching, and crowd-heavy scenes will test the minimum spec harder than solo zones do.

For settings, the sane approach is to start on a medium preset, confirm it holds in a crowded hub area, and climb from there — specific setting-by-setting tuning guidance will be possible once the global build is live, so treat exact recommendations as launch-confirm.

Playing on a laptop

A gaming laptop with a GPU around the GTX 1050 Ti performance class should be broadly comparable to the desktop minimum — the mobile and desktop parts of that era are close in this range. The catches are thermals and the screen you are stuck with. Thin chassis throttle under sustained MMO load in a way desktops do not, so expect to sit nearer the minimum experience than the recommended one, and confirm real-world laptop performance in game at launch. For everything else about getting the game — launchers, platforms, pricing — see the platforms FAQ, and the release date page has the full launch calendar.

The bottom line

  • Minimum: Ryzen 5 2600 or i5-10500, 8GB RAM, GTX 1050 Ti, 100GB of storage
  • Recommended: Ryzen 7 3700X or i7-11700, 16GB RAM, RTX 2070, SSD
  • The real gate is storage and CPU — 100GB of space and crowd-ready processing matter most in an MMO
  • Laptops at the 1050 Ti class should run it; expect to live near the minimum settings
  • UE5 launch-week jitters are normal — start at medium, tune up after the first patches

The spec sheet is one of the friendlier ones for a UE5 game this size. Most PCs bought for gaming since 2020 will be fine.
